Interstate bridge connecting Washington and Oregon clears milestone

The I-5 Bridge Replacement project, which connects Washington and Oregon, is set to begin construction after concluding the environmental review process. The project will construct a new pair of Columbia River bridges, one northbound and one southbound, as well as develop enhanced parking capacity, bus service improvements and various interchange and auxiliary lane modifications on the I-5 bridge.

“Today, the I-5 Bridge Replacement project reached an important milestone, bringing it closer to completion,” said U.S. Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02). “You can’t have a big league economy with little league infrastructure. This is a legacy investment that will create good jobs for the women and men of the Pacific Northwest while safely and efficiently connecting Washington and Oregon. Thank you to all of my colleagues on the state and federal level for keeping this game-changing project moving.”

“Getting the green light on construction of the new I-5 bridge is a massive step towards ensuring we have durable transportation and interstate access for generations. Families, truckers and commuters across Southwest Washington depend on this roadway for the strength of our local economy,” said Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03). “Getting funding for projects like this is where the rubber meets the road on delivering for working families. I’m so proud to see this project get closer to becoming a reality.”
