FHWA and Navajo Nation make $167.3 million funding agreement
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Navajo Division of Transportation recently came to a $167.3 million agreement for infrastructure initiatives and improvements.
This federal investment will go toward transportation planning efforts, including roadway improvement and bridge projects. Specifically, $7.3 million will go to bridge improvement projects.
The agreement is broken down into $70.1 million in FY 2025 funding and $89.9 million in FY 2026 funding.
“This funding represents a major investment in the future of the Navajo Nation,” said Navajo Nation President Dr. Buu Nygren. “By working closely with our federal partners, we are strengthening our roads, improving transportation access, and creating opportunities that will benefit our communities for generations to come.”
