Helene-impacted states receive $159 million in disaster funding
On Sept. 10, 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration announced $159 million in Disaster Supplemental funding awards to several states affected by Hurricane Helene, as well as other natural disasters in 2023 and 2024. Tennessee and North Carolina, each impacted in several regions by the hurricane, will receive funding to support business and infrastructure recovery efforts. Mississippi and Kentucky will also receive funding for roadway, water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure improvements.
“The Economic Development Administration remains committed to helping communities impacted by Hurricane Helene and other natural disasters to grow their economies, attract and retain new businesses, and create jobs for American workers,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary and Chief Operating Officer Ben Page. “The awards we are announcing today will enable critical infrastructure upgrades to some of the most heavily impacted areas and provide resources needed to support economic resilience.”
