USDOT announces $626 million for various infrastructure projects
The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is making $626.7 million available for a range of infrastructure projects across the nation, with a priority for large-scale projects over $150 million.
USDOT Secretary Sean Duffy said in a statement that this funding is offered through the Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and Highway Projects, or INFRA grant program, and has been divided into two targeted tracks: Track 1, worth $426.7 million, will support surface transportation projects of national and regional significance, while Track 2, worth $200 million, will focus on expanding commercial motor vehicle parking for truck and bus drivers.
Other types of infrastructure projects covered by this federal funding opportunity include upgrading safety technology at railroad crossings, repairing highways or bridges to reduce traffic congestion and freight bottlenecks, strengthening U.S. marine highways to diversify the nation’s domestic supply chain transport network and modernizing key highway infrastructure along the country’s busiest freight corridors.
