Kentucky receives $35.7 million for transportation improvements

Allen County, Ky., is moving forward with infrastructure, road and bridge improvements after receiving a $35.7 million grant. Representative Shawn McPherson and Senate Majority Floor Leader Max Wise worked and secured the grant for the county to finish key projects necessary in order to make roads safer.

Some of the key projects include $19.14 million to reconstruct KY Highway 100 from Simpson County to east of Sulphur Fork Creek, $11.78 million for additional improvements to KY Highway 100, including curves, bridges and intersections. Additional projects include $2.7 million for construction to improve connectivity within the Allen Springs Industrial Park and $1.07 million for a bridge replacement on Jefferson School Road.

“This year, the legislature said, whatever we put in the plan this year, we’re going to have the funds to do that. And Highway 100 was one of the projects that they planned to get funded this year. And we’re very, very happy that is getting done,” said Allen County Judge Executive Dennis Harper. “It’s going to make Highway 100 a lot safer to travel. A lot of people work in Franklin. A lot of people use 100 to get to Interstate 65. It’s going to make it a lot safer for our constituents here in the county.”
