Virginia’s infrastructure maintains ‘C’ grade
On Aug. 25, 2026, the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Virginia section released the 2026 Report Card for Virginia’s infrastructure, which remained unchanged since 2022 at a ‘C’ grade. The report card reflects a growing need for investment to meet growing infrastructure demand and prepare for future events, including updating emergency action plans for all departments and municipalities.
Bridges and broadband earned a B+, the highest grade in the report card. Solid waste earned a B, reflecting strong performance and reliable investment.
Virginia’s drinking water received a C+ grade, while roads, public parks and stormwater earned C grades. As for the state’s roads, the grade improved from 2022’s C- grade, despite traffic remaining an ongoing challenge.
