Massachusetts secures $153 million in federal transportation funding
On Sept. 24, 2026, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey announced that the state successfully secured $153 million in federal transportation funding for 16 Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) projects across the state.
“This $153 million will help us improve roads and bridges, make it safer to walk and bike and invest in public transportation across the state,” said Healey. “We’re going to keep competing for these opportunities and putting every available resource to work to make transportation better in Massachusetts.”
“Ensuring we have eligible projects at MassDOT and the MBTA is helping us to secure the federal dollars available through redistribution so we can deliver critical projects that make meaningful improvements to our transportation system,” said Interim Transportation Secretary and General Manager Phillip Eng. “Our teams across agencies worked together to make sure we were well positioned and successful for redistribution. This is exactly the kind of collaboration and strategic approach that allows us to deliver a multimodal transportation network across the entire Commonwealth that works for our residents, visitors and businesses.
