Maryland Board of Public Works approves nearly $2 million to counties
Maryland Governor Wes Moore and the Board of Public Works approved $2 million to ten counties. These funds derive from Program Open Space (POS) and prior year state capital budget allocations. Many of these project include installing LED lighting in public spaces. Sitting on the Maryland Board of Public Works is Governor Wes Moore, Treasurer Dereck E. Davis and Comptroller Brooke E. Lierman.
The largest allocation of the funds went to Montgomery County, with $600,000 funding a new 2.2 mile recreational trail within two parks. Program Open Space provides financial and technical assistance to local subdivisions for the planning, acquisition and development of recreation land or open space areas.
