Vincent Thomas Bridge closes for $752.8 million rehabilitation
On Nov. 7, the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, Calif., will close for 16 months for rehabilitation and repairs.
The $752.8 million project includes the full replacement of the bridge deck and seismic sensors. Repairs will be made to the bridge’s railings, fences and median barrier.
The bridge first opened in 1963 and serves as a critical connection in the Los Angeles Harbor region.
CalTrans noted that the bridge is to reopen before the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
