Oregon supports small communities with regional infrastructure fund
Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek announced the opening of the Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF) for local governments and federally recognized tribes. This funding is dedicated to areas with a population under 25,000 and supported by state economic funding passed in April.
An estimated $10 million in grants is available through RIF for two project types: construction grants and planning grants. Funding for each grant ranges from $25,000 to $1 million.
The regional infrastructure program is administered through the state’s development agency, Business Oregon.
“Infrastructure is where economic development begins,” Governor Kotek said. “Communities have a tough time attracting new employers, building housing, or growing their main street businesses without reliable water, roads, and sites ready for investment. The Regional Infrastructure Fund is designed to meet our small, rural, and tribal communities where they are, whether that means supporting the engineering work that gets a project shovel ready or helping move construction forward.”
Applications close on September 2, 2026.
