New York announces $434 million for statewide water infrastructure improvements

On Aug. 7, 2026, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced the approval of $434 million for water and sewer infrastructure improvement projects across the state. The Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC) Board of Directors approved the financing and State and federal grants, empowering local governments to modernize aging systems. These investments protect public health and the environment, as well as reduce future risk by addressing aging infrastructure.

“Affordability means investing before problems become crises,” said Hochul. “That’s why we’re making historic investments to help communities modernize their water infrastructure, protect public health and keep costs low for families across New York.”
