House Passes 2026 THUD Bill
On January 22, the House passed the 2026 Transportation-Housing and Urban Development (THUD) funding bill. With a 341 to 88 vote, it moves to the Senate for approval. This includes funding for the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Office of the Secretary of Transportation.
According to analysis by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), “the 2026 THUD bill provides $111.5 billion in net budgetary resources to the U.S. Department of Transportation and fully honors the Highway Trust Fund obligation limitation provided in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act or IIJA of 2021 for FY 2026.”
