Billion Dollar Washington, DC, Rail Bridge Project Moves Forward

Skanska has been awarded a $1 billion contract to build the northern section of Washington, D.C.’s Long Bridge North rail project, a key piece of a broader $2.3 billion infrastructure upgrade. The new four-track span will replace a 100-year-old, two-track bridge that serves nearly 80 trains a day and is operating near full capacity. The project aims to ease congestion, improve rail reliability, and boost both freight and passenger service along a critical East Coast corridor.
