Smart Water Control in New Berlin, New York
When the culvert on Holmesville Hill Road in Berlin, NY, repeatedly failed due to heavy seasonal runoff, the town needed a durable and fast solution to prevent further road damage and minimize traffic disruption. Chemung Supply Company partnered with Soleno to replace the deteriorated metal pipe with a more resilient system capable of handling high water volumes at the existing depth. Soleno manufactured and delivered three 20-foot, 84-inch diameter KUSTOMFLO HDPE pipes that met the project’s structural and hydraulic needs. The lightweight design allowed for rapid installation, reducing the road closure period to just one week.
The KUSTOMFLO system offered significant advantages over traditional materials, including corrosion resistance, ease of handling and reduced shipping costs. Its durable HDPE construction ensures a longer lifespan, while its modular design simplifies assembly and improves on-site safety. Soleno’s ability to deliver customized pipes within three weeks and provide on-site guidance helped ensure the project’s success. The result was a cost-effective, long-lasting culvert solution that restored the roadway’s stability and improved the town’s resilience to future high-volume water events.
