Georgia approves Millions for local transportation projects

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and the SRTA Board approved a record-setting $26.5 million in GTIB state loans and grants for 13 transportation infrastructure projects, including a historic $13.3 million in rural funding and $15.5 million in loans, the most ever awarded. Notable investments include a $1.4 million grant for the Mount Vernon Roadway Connectivity project, repairing roads damaged by Hurricane Helene and a $4.9 million loan to the Cumberland CID for the first 3‑mile segment of the Cumberland Sweep path. This funding boost, made possible by a mid‑year budget enhancement, aims to accelerate project delivery, especially in rural communities, while maintaining Georgia’s infrastructure competitiveness.
