EPA Proposes to Reverse GHG Endangerment Finding
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin proposed to rescind the endangerment finding that signaled air pollutants, including greenhouse gases (GHGs) as public health risks. Additionally, Administrator Zeldin proposed to eliminate all GHG emission standards for new motor vehicles, a move complimenting Department of Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy’s recent changes to the Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards that reduced fuel economy requirements for new vehicles. While such changes are part of the new administration’s goals to unleash American energy, some believe the confirmation of the new EPA proposal would disincentivize clean energy and electric vehicle consumption and hinder efforts to cut carbon emissions nationwide going forward.
