Denver to study nuclear power for airport and potential data centers

The Denver International Airport is planning to spend up to $1.25 million to study the feasibility of installing a small nuclear power plant, adding to their investments in green energy. A proposed nuclear power plant at the airport would pull in demand for businesses seeking to power energy-intensive data centers. With electricity demand rising especially high given the increase in hungry data-centers powering artificial intelligence, Colorado lawmakers redefined nuclear energy as a clean energy resource alongside solar, wind and geothermal energy.

According to Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington, the plant “would allow us to be the masters of our own energy fate, if you will.”
