Transit’s Big Impact in Smaller Urban Areas like Flagstaff
While transit is typically a major topic of conversation in the larger metros such New York City or Los Angeles, it plays a powerful role in everyday life in small cities such as Flagstaff, Arizona. After the pandemic, the Flagstaff Unified School District partnered with transportation service Mountain Line to help relieve the difficulties of accessing affordable transportation for FUSD students in need of transit. Voting from Flagstaff residents to increase the portion of sales tax dedicated to sales tax by nearly 70% reflects the community’s recognition of how critical it is to have solid transit and proper infrastructure to support public transit, demonstrating it’s not just a focus in the big cities.
