Schedule Announced for New York Penn Station “Transformation” Project
U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced that the New York Penn Station “Transformation” Project will begin construction by 2027. The Federal Railroad Administration will utilize time between October and Summer 2027 to conduct a Service Optimization Study prior to construction to ensure the project, which has been handed over to Amtrak by USDOT from the New York Metropolitan Transportation, begins successfully and without trouble. Secretary Duffy also announced that the Department of Transportation will provide Amtrak with nearly $43 million in federal grant funding to support the modernization of the station.
