New York Governor to Affordably Advance Local Water Infrastructure Projects

Governor of New York Kathy Hochul announced $176 million in infrastructure funding is going towards communities across New York State. These projects include critical water and sewer infrastructure improvement missions using state and federal grants. Investments in affordably advances to local  water infrastructure serve public health needs by replacing lead service lines, removing water contaminants and more.

Funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and a State grant towards advancing New York infrastructure. The grant, known as the Lead Infrastructure Forgiveness and Transformation (LIFT) program, goes towards removing lead from water lines. In New York, 13 communities are receiving loan forgiveness grants to cover costs not met by federal grants to remove taxpayer burden from local water infrastructure upgrades.
