Jackson to receive $26.5M in state infrastructure projects
More than $26 million in state-funded projects are headed to Jackson, Miss., targeting roads, parks, infrastructure and cultural institutions across the capital city and Hinds County. City officials announced that the funding, included in Senate Bill 2189, the 2026 legislative projects bill, will bring approximately $26.52 million in total appropriations within city limits.
“Jackson is moving forward because so many people rolled up their sleeves and went to work for our city,” said Mayor John Horhn said. “When we stay at the table and keep advocating for (the city), we can deliver results for our residents.”
Among the city-funded projects, $4 million is designated as matching funds for federal highway and road improvements along key corridors, including Woodrow Wilson Avenue, Medgar Evers Boulevard and McDowell Road. Other allocations include $750,000 for infrastructure improvements in northwest Jackson, $400,000 for Westside community projects and $200,000 to pave a portion of Hanging Moss Road.
