Highlights from NLC Leadership
Heading into 2026, the National League of Cities reflects on their successes of 2025. This includes the leadership under the past President, Mayor Steve Patterson of Athens, Ohio. NLC welcomes the 2026 President Kevin Kramer of Louisville, Kentucky and looks forward to his leadership in the new year.
Other successes include increasing Local-Federal Partnerships at the NLC Congressional City Conference and strengthening education through workshops at City Summit 2025. In 2025, their advocacy efforts included urging Congress to end the longest federal shutdown in United States history. Additionally they introduced and understood new innovations including Artificial Intelligence. They also continued to expand their network of resources including facing issues such as housing, homelessness and community development.
