Governor Lamont announces State Grants to improve Infrastructure

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont and Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto announced nearly $12 million in state grants to support 17 local transportation projects aimed at improving safety and mobility for pedestrians and cyclists. The funding comes from the Community Connectivity Grant Program, now in its seventh round, which helps towns and cities create safer, more walkable and bike-friendly environments. State officials emphasized that these investments strengthen community connections, support economic development and improve residents’ quality of life.

The latest round of grants—ranging from sidewalk upgrades to new cycle tracks and trail connectors—will fund construction-only projects between $100,000 and $800,000. Communities receiving awards include Ansonia, Berlin, Branford, New Haven, Norwalk and several others, with projects expected to be completed within three years. Since the program’s launch, Connecticut has invested about $74 million across 155 projects, underscoring the state’s ongoing commitment to safety, connectivity and locally driven infrastructure improvements.
