Gather more accurate water samples to maximize pollution reduction

Researchers sought to cover the gap in stormwater pollution research and concluded that municipalities underestimate total pollutant load in surface water. Stormwater control measures typically capture dissolved pollutants and fine particles, but miss larger particles and gross solids in catch basins. The research found in the state of North Carolina suggests ways to strengthen stormwater maintenance efforts and improve urban stormwater management.
