California Begins Final Phase of World’s Largest Wildlife Crossing

California has begun the final construction phase of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, a $90+ million project set to become the world’s largest urban wildlife bridge, designed to reconnect habitats split by a 10-lane freeway and protect species like mountain lions from extinction. Funded through a public-private partnership, the crossing will restore 12 acres of native habitat and reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions, serving as a global model for urban conservation. Despite delays from extreme weather, the project is on track, with wildlife already beginning to explore the unfinished structure.
