EPA Gives $12 Million in Grants for Water Programs

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) plans to allocate $12 million in grant funding for underground injection control (UIC) programs. The goal of the programs is to protect sources of drinking water while accelerating other industry projects.  The funding will go to various States and Tribes based on Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) allotment factors. That includes population, geographic area and extent of underground injection practices.

“States and tribes understand their water resources and underground geology best. With $12 million in EPA grant funding, they will be able to solidify and expand permitting and oversight of underground injection to protect sources of drinking water while bolstering projects that support economic growth and job creation,” said EPA Senior Advisor Jessica Kramer.
