ASCE Honors Class of 2025 Distinguished Members
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has announced its 2025 class of Distinguished Members, the highest honor the society bestows. This year’s honorees include 11 individuals recognized for their significant contributions to civil engineering through research, education, and leadership.
Among the honorees is Dr. Burcu H. Akinci of Carnegie Mellon University, acknowledged for her pioneering work in integrating building information models with data capture technologies to create digital twins of construction projects. Dr. Reginald DesRoches, president of Rice University, is recognized for his leadership in disaster mitigation and community resiliency. Dr. Brendan M. Harley, a former MIT professor, is honored for developing advanced hydrologic and hydrogeological modeling tools.
The 2025 class will be officially inducted during the ASCE 2025 Convention in Seattle, Washington, on October 9. Distinguished Membership is reserved for ASCE fellows or members in good standing who have attained eminence in some branch of engineering or related arts and sciences.
