Anderson Bomar inducted as the 2026 ACSE Society President

Marsha Anderson Bomar officially took office as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ACSE) Society President in October. Anderson Bomar is currently the commissioner emeritus for the City of Atlanta Department of Transportation and worked previously as assistant general manager of MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Regional Transportation Authority).

The ASCE is the oldest national engineering society in the United States with over 160,000 active members. The Society President serves as the chief representative and spokesperson for the Society, working with ASCE’s executive director. Anderson Bomar previously served as the treasurer on the Board of Direction and as technical region director with the ACSE.

“We are the best-kept secret on the planet,” said Anderson Bomar during her introductory presidential speech. “We don’t want to be visible only when there is a disaster. We want the world to know that we are the problem-solvers. We deliver solutions that better lives every day.”

Alongside her decades of experience in Atlanta Anderson Bomar founded and ran her own companies. These include Street Smarts a planning, engineering and design firm, and Data Smarts, a data collection and management firm. Anderson Bomar was also inducted into the National Academy of Engineering’s Class of 2025

“I am deeply honored to serve as ASCE President,” said Anderson Bomar. “This is a pivotal time for our profession, and I look forward to working with our members to champion innovation and infrastructure that meets the needs of future generations.”
