National Public Works Week Honors Essential Infrastructure Workers

The American Public Works Association (APWA) is celebrating National Public Works Week (NPWW) from May 18–24, 2025, to recognize the vital contributions of public works professionals across North America. This year’s theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” emphasizes the dedication of individuals who design, build, and maintain the infrastructure that supports daily life, including transportation systems, water and wastewater services, public buildings, and emergency response operations.

Communities are marking the occasion with various events such as equipment demonstrations, open houses, and educational programs to engage the public and showcase the work of public works teams. Additionally, the APWA will announce the 2025 Top Ten Public Works Leaders of the Year, recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service in the field.

The week-long celebration encourages public appreciation and support for these often-unsung heroes who ensure the smooth operation of critical infrastructure and services.
